Labor’s State Government candidate for Beaudesert, Brett Raguse (left) welcomes the Minister for Emergency Services, Pat Purcell and well-known Australian actor and TV personality, Noni Hazlehurst to his campaign launch at the Cedar Creek Winery Estate on Tamborine Mountain last Friday. Ms Hazlehurst was the function’s guest speaker that was attended by more than 100 guests.

More than 100 people attended the official campaign launch for Labor’s State Beaudesert candidate, Brett Raguse, last Friday evening at the Cedar Creek Winery Estate on Tamborine Mountain.

The State Emergency Services Minister Pat Purcell, representing the Premier, and 10 State Government members were in attendance to support the campaign.

Mr Raguse, a third generation Beaudesert electorate resident, was formerly a local business manager before becoming a political advisor to the Minister of Environment, Local Government, Planning & Women.

Mr Raguse said there was a definite need to resolve a "lack of local services and associated infrastructure, especially relating to public transport in the electorate. "

"Living in the district all my life I have had a finger on the pulse regarding what people in this electorate need as residents,” Mr Raguse said.

“I have already carried out 800 visits to local homes and the majority of people are demanding a greater representation for our area in State Parliament. They need to be heard!

“In the past two decades – we have not experienced this, and many past decisions affecting the electorate have been made without proper consultation.

“The reason I chose Tamborine Mountain to launch my campaign is because this is a special area with very special needs,” he said.

“The Mountain is also another area that has a lack of public services and these problems should have been addressed a long time ago. We need well-planned strategies to resolve these issues and then we need to see action!” Mr Raguse said.
