"For too long the residents of the Beaudesert Electorate have not had access to adequate Transport and other Basic Services; and it just not good enough", according to Brett Raguse the ALP Candidate for the State Seat of Beaudesert.
"This State Electorate, which takes in both the Beaudesert and the Boonah Shires, has never enjoyed the basic 'right' of public transport that our Brisbane and Gold Coast cousins take for granted.
"It all comes down to 'mobility' and the lack of options for residents of all ages across the electorate to get around town as well as in and out of Brisbane and the Gold Coast - an almost impossible task if you don’t own a car.
"Mobility is the basis of our ability to transport the infirmed; the aged and the disadvantaged around our electorate to hospital, nursing homes and respite centres as well everyone else being able to independently travel to work, university, school and shopping without becoming stranded", said Mr Raguse.
According to Raguse, “the next State election is crucial for the Beaudesert region to ensure we get the best representation and I know I can provide that representation.
"We don’t want to change our lifestyle, we just want what everyone else has and takes for granted – good roads, a bus and rail service and more local jobs.
"Unfortunately the electorate and our community has been left behind. With the increasing demand on land and housing we must start to plan for the next 20 years to ensure we maintain our lifestyle while getting the benefits that sustainable and clever planning can bring – local jobs; better roads; good transport; increased health services and more education options."
