Long term resident and President of the ALP’s Jimboomba branch, Mr Brett Raguse, held a function at the Beaudesert Community Sports Club last Saturday to announce his intention to run for pre-selection as the Labor Party candidate for the Beaudesert electorate in the next State election.
More than 60 guests attended the function to support Mr Raguse’s candidacy. South East Queensland is presently undergoing a ‘green change’ invasion with more than 100 people per day moving into the area. The state electorate of Beaudesert is situated in the Gold Coast hinterland, and its population of 68,000 enjoys a rural and semi-rural lifestyle. Recently the State Government tabled its South East Queensland Regional Plan, which plans for the future development of the area’s infrastructure based on community feedback and the need to control development in the remaining ‘green’ areas. “Beaudesert Electorate needs a strong, vision-directed State Member who can understand the changing dynamics of the Shire and ensure that a secure future for all becomes a reality,” Mr Raguse said. “Despite the best efforts of Local Government and Community Groups we are now falling behind in comparison to our near city and shire neighbours.
“Problems in provision of reticulated water supplies; lack of public transport; poor road infrastructure; lack of higher educational facilities and health services, to name a few, are making our lifestyle less comfortable and threaten the future sustainability for our children and grandchildren. “Beaudesert Electorate needs a strong, vision-directed State Member who can understand the changing dynamics of the Shire and ensure that a secure future for all of us becomes a reality,” he said. |
